Headache, Migraine & Stroke
About the Condition
Headaches are very common, and most are not serious. However, frequent migraines can disrupt daily life, and some symptoms, especially sudden weakness or slurred speech, can signal a stroke that needs emergency care.
Migraine often causes a throbbing headache on one side with nausea and sensitivity to light or sound, and may be triggered by poor sleep, skipped meals, stress or screen time. Tension headaches feel like a tight band around the head. A stroke is different: it happens when blood supply to part of the brain is blocked or a vessel bleeds. Every minute matters, so knowing the warning signs and reaching hospital quickly protects the brain and saves lives.
Common Symptoms
Remember BE FAST for stroke: Balance loss, Eyes (sudden vision loss), Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call for help. For headaches, note how often they occur and what triggers them before your OPD visit.
Diagnosis & Treatment at Healyn
Headaches have many causes, so our neuro physician begins with a detailed history and neurological examination, and orders tests such as a CT scan only when they are needed. In a suspected stroke, our 24/7 emergency team gives immediate assessment, an on-site CT scan and stabilisation. When specialised treatment such as clot-dissolving therapy or neurosurgery is required, we arrange rapid transfer to an appropriate stroke centre without delay.
When to See a Doctor
Book a neurology OPD for recurring headaches. For stroke signs, call emergency immediately; do not wait.
How We Treat It
Care combines medicines, trigger control and regular follow-up with our neuro physician.
Recovery & Follow-up
With the right plan, most people with migraine have fewer and milder attacks and miss fewer days at work or school. For stroke, the outcome depends greatly on how quickly treatment begins, which is why our emergency is open around the clock. After a stroke, follow-up with neurology and physiotherapy supports recovery. This guide is general information; seek emergency care for any sudden neurological symptoms.
